OHEL has been providing comprehensive mental health services in New York City and the Metropolitan area since 1969. Through its many programs, including: foster care, outpatient counseling, sexual abuse treatment, Trauma Response Team, school-based services, domestic violence shelters, addiction treatment, 100 residences and apartments, day programs and eldercare management, OHEL and its affiliates, Bais Ezra, Lifetime Care Foundation, Etta OHEL and Camp Kaylie, serve thousands of individuals and families with mental illness, developmental disabilities, families in crisis as well as everyday people with everyday problems. OHEL provides legal guardianship, financial and case management through supplemental needs trusts for persons with disabilities who have no one else to care for them.
David Mandel has served as the Chief Executive Officer of OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services since 1995. He is a lecturer and a frequent contributor to newspapers, magazines and radio programs on a range of mental health and social issues with more than 200 newspaper and magazine articles published on a broad range of topics, including mental health, addictions, sexual abuse and adolescent conflict. David is Chairman of Touro College’s School of Social Work Professional Advisory Board. Most recently, David is a regular columnist to the Times of Israel.
